The Field Centre Journal of Research and Practice Issue 7 (Summer 2022 - Autumn 2022), pages 83 - 91.Summary: In this essay I show how Goethean science has, since its inception by Goethe himself, undergone a metamorphosis. In particular I focus on how the tradition of Goethean science has drawn inspiration from the work of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). This merits exploration as a significant number of subsequent developments in Goethean science have been strongly influenced by the life and work of Steiner, both in theory and in practice.
